Detection
automated image acquisition and analysis
Geniom Technology detects fluorescence-labeled target molecules bound to the immobilized oligonucleotides in the microfluidic Geniom Biochip via digital imaging.
Based on an 8-megapixel CCD camera with 6 μm resolution in combination with a high-pressure mercury lamp the technology provides automated feature recognition and signal calculation within milliseconds.
The built-in CCD camera uses a high-aperture macro lens and records an image of the fluorescence pattern on the biochip surface.
A range of optical filters, changeable via Geniom Software, ensures a high-yield of appropriate wavelengths for selective excitation of fluorescence dyes (standard configuration offers a filter-set compatible with phycoerythrin and Cy3 detection; alternative filters are available upon request).
The Geniom Wizard Software performs automated background subtraction, normalization, and noise reduction, calculates signal intensities from the image data, and allocates them to the corresponding features. All data are stored in the database.
The Software supports tab delimited data export for seamless compatibility with most bioinformatics and data analysis packages.
In contrast to laser-based detection systems there is no photobleaching thus enabling repeated measurements and multiple detection of each microarray.
The entire optical system is optimized for use with Geniom Biochips.
Real-Time Data Monitoring with Geniom RT Analyzer:
The unique combination of heating and cooling capabilities and CCD-based detection of the Geniom RT Analyzer allows for temperature sweeps which enables the analysis of microarrays at defined temperatures.
Generate melting curves and acquisite CCD-images at defined time-points within the course of a specific temperature program.
